Please Help. I dont know which one to buy.

Hello All!

I really need some guidance here! I have narrowed down my laptop search to two choices.

1. HP Pavillion DV2120CA AMD Turion 64 x 2 Dual Core Mobile Technology TL-50 1.6GHz Laptop $999 Canadian.

2. Gateway MX6442
Processor
AMD Turion® 64 Mobile Technology ML-34
1.80GHz | HyperTransport™ Technology up to 1600MHz | 1MB L2 cache

I will mainly be doing internet stuff on it, surfing, music, etc. I would like to install QuarkXPress, Photoshop and Illustrator on it though, as I work with these programs at work often.

Which one would you guys think is the best? The HP is $100 more than the Gateway.

Any help would be appreciated!

As a latop salesman for CompUSA i would definatley recommend the HP. You're getting a dual core AMD X2 intead of the single core, and for the same price you can't beat that! Just make sure you're okay with the HP's smaller screen. It's a 14" which is pretty tiny. Otherwise the HP has the power advantage.

p.s.- you mentioned the HP was $100 more. Your links both say $999.99. even if the HP is more i would still go with that one... but just wondering

I did like the screen on the Gateway. Do you think the power difference is definately notieable?

The Gateway is at Costco here for $899 (in store) and the one is from Best Buy...

yes it will be noticeable... i would buy the HP hands down if it was between those 2 laptop...

Why get AMD X2 when you can get Core 2 Duo?

I would say go with that hp, its a very good deal..i would rec a dell since u could get a c2d and about the same specs, but that is a pretty good lappy rite thur..go for it!
