please help me experts/experienced/wise people

now this is a serious problem.
a major serious PC problem(for me atleast).
i recently changed my OS from win98 to winXP.
And i am facing some large problems and inconvenience.

Coming here relieves me a a bit coz i feel like there are a lot of experts here
and i really need experts like you people to look after my pc.
i will be very happy and extremely greatful if you people help.

because of some problems with corrupted files I have swithched from win98
when i start my pc and do some work then -often- after sometimes i get a stupid sound
(toggle sound-like -> 'ganck') and then evrything from my keyboard to my mouse starts behaving strangely.
For example-i can't refresh anymore and my mouse starts selecting 5-6 icons at the same times.
If i am online then moving the top wheel in the mousetakes me "back" and "forward" rapidly without saving my work.
Same with keyboard-i cant type "9" it will become "(",similarly "." becomes ">".
And these things wont stop unless i reboot my pc from the beginning.
please give an idea as to why this can happen.Was there an error in the formatting to XP?
Coz with 98 I did not have this problem.

I am new with XP.
And i have a lot of problems and things to know.
This problem i stated here is probably my biggest problem at the moment.
but in future i might need to ask more questions.please co-operate.

Did you get the upgrade or full version of XP? You can try reinstalling the OS, and that might resolve the issue (I had a weird unexplainable problem with my first comp. that went away with a fresh install). There especially seems to be more a higher chance of an issue with the upgrade version of XP because you're stacking the OS's on eachother. Do a fresh install and let us know what happened! :)
 
Well i don't how but my computer no longer seems to have that problem.
the only thing i remember doing lately is to update my windows.
i will let you know if i face that problem again.

But I have another problem now.I cannot delete certain specific histories.
i don't know how they remain in the IE adress bar.they appear whenever i type 'c'.here is what happens:-
If i type c it shows:

http://conan.wagnergrp.com/select.html
control panel
search for "c"

Strangely,i have visited many other sites like say "google.com" but it
does not show google.com anymore if i clear my history and cookies.
And i have done "clear history","delete cookies","delete temporary files" many times from the tools menu.Please help.
