Hey guys, i was just looking to build a computer myself. i have know what im doing but i need your guys helps for what to get. the computer is mainly going to be for gaming, for games such as WoW and CSS. my price range is about $500 tops please. i don't need a monitor, mouse, keyboard.

THANKS EVERYONE!:)

If you want a good gamer, 1/3 of it is gone for a graphics card, next 1/3 for memory, and well, it's going to be tough to do a gaming system for $500. Or were you thinking of upgrading your current system??

i wanted to like start from scratch. when i was searching around newegg i found stuff and my total came to like 480 but that was a quick put together..if you have to go a little over that price it's fine :). thanks.

How "little"? I could make you a build for less, but it's not nearly going to be as good as what you can get for $650-700... I'll do what I can.

Do you need an operating system becuase if so then it is going to be pretty hard. An OS cost $100 that only leaves $400 for gaming. You can build a gaming PC for $500 with OS. I have did it plenty of times.

@Stoic Sentinel you can make that build a lot cheaper. Change the motherboard to a AM2+/AM3. Then use DDR2 RAM which will save a lot. He is only going to be playing games like CS:S and WOW. So a 4850 isn't really needed a 4670 or 3870 will max those games out easily.

the 3870 is a solid card. mine is anyway. might want to look into a thermaltale duorb because ati cards run hot... on hot days my card idles at 55*c... load temps are like 80*c

My 4850 idles around 45C but after my computer has been on for 10+ hours it gets up to 48C. I have never had temps higher then 60C even after hours of gaming. Of course I have pretty good airflow I have 3 80mm fans blowing over my card.

I realize that, but if he wants to use the computer a long time, he could go with a higher-end GPU, but yeah, I understand he can always upgrade when he has money. :)
