Well, heres my problem, i have an Acer Aspire T180 i baught earlier last year.Ever since around summer last year, My computer started to crash,Whilst playing games like World Of Warcraft.Basically the screen goes blue, and lots of white writing appears saying i may have hardware or software problems? I rang my local computer shop, and they say if i drop it off i can pick it up the next day and it will be fixed, But i thought id come on here and see if theres anything i can do at home to fix this? The man at the local pc shop recommended i check if my graphics card is upto date, so i did and my graphics card is.

Here are my computer specs:

2gig ram
80gb hardrive (amd athalon 64 dual core processor)
Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit)
Nvidia 6100 Nforce 405 graphics card.

Please help me, i really dont want to take my computer down to a pc shop were they could do 10minutes work and charge me £50.

Regards, M.C

oh man i feel your pain, the blue screen of death is never a good sign, i wish i could help, all i can think of is maybe doing a complete computer restore or reformat your hard drive

I'm almost at the point of throwing my pc out the window, i baught an extra 1gb ram (was on 1gig when baught) only the other week, i was under the impression my pc was overheating. So i thought Hey! its overheating because ur ram is being used dramaticlly, so if i got some more ram, it wouldnt be as hot. Althought it might be cooler all around, The blue screen issue hasnt changed.

*edit* And i cant reformatt, and vista came installed on my pc, so i dont have any xp/vista disks, i only have a windows 98 disk which id sooner shuv up my but than install on my pc.

There's also maybe spyware which Norton cannot detect and causing errors and such. Why not try Ad-Aware. There's a free edition.

EDIT: Here's a link

That and a good cleaning out on programs you don't use anymore and old files might be of some help too.

I would recommend however a Reformat, if you have your Key with which your Vista was registered, I do believe you could use any vista CD to reformat and simply use your key, and you're good to go.

Ok thanks ill try this, and are you sure this program is a safe one?

Edit* also you think a spyware virus could be corrupting my computer to make it blue screen. A strange thing is my old compaq (512mb ram) pretty much a crap computer, did it alot aswell like over 2 year ago.

i think that your computer should have come with a restore disc if you bought it from a store, if theres no disc, it might be under warrenty, if its not, you might be able to call and get a disc so you can restore it, that is assuming that you bought it at a store. otherwise if the ad-aware does not work, i think that you are gonna be stuck having to take it to a repair shop, you might want to try taking one of the sides off your tower, it will get dirtier, but allows for muuuuch better airflow, if your computer is too hot

I've used it, and it works very well. The full versions include more scanning options and a monitor program, but the free version still has all the scanning features you'll need.

And also, if you still believe you're computer is overheating, you could downlaod Speedfan, this program accesses any sensors in your system (most CPU, Hard Drives, Motherbaord have built-in sensors) and gives you the tempature. If you want more info, just post in the "Computer Cases, Power Supplies and Cooling" section of the forum, you'll get loads of info.

EDIT: Once you get to the scanning options, make a full system scan, and check the "Search for negligable risk entries" and the low-risk threats if there's those options, just to be sure you remove everything you don't need on your Hard drive.

Hmm many errors, the best thing to do is reformat. Do you have a key sticker somewheres? Cause if you have your Vista Key, you should be able to install it with any 'ol Vista CD.

EDIT: Try turning off Norton, it might be interfering the proper installment of Ad-Aware or AVG.

Well, once I found this program that can detect your XP Key (there's probably such things for Vista), but it was sketchy. It seemed to have worked though, I needed to find the key for my laptop, I check on my PC and it was showing the correct key.

And when I was saying any Vista CD would probably work, I mean just borrow one from a budy or something.

sniperchang, You got msn? Can you private message it me please a few things i need to discuss with u with a very immediate reply

Well im pretty fed up of trying to fix my computer -.- im sick of it.

I was thinking should i clear all the files of my computer and uninstall my operating system, Then sell my computer to somebody (maybe ican sell it to my local pc shop) and buy a new intel based system?
