I have an Asus K60 laptop.
2.1ghz dual core cpu.
4gb ddr2 ram.
Intel gma 4500 videocard.

The videocard on my laptop is definitely not good for movies or games. I don't intend on making this a hardcore gaming laptop, but anything is better than the videocard i have in it.

Can someone please help me understand the difference between desktop videocards and laptop videocards? I noticed there are a lot of different kinds and i'm sure if it all has to do with the motherboard or something... And if you can assist me with that, please help me find a place to purchase a laptop videocard. Thank you very much.

Generally, the GPU in a laptop can't be swapped out, as it's an integrated part of the motherboard. Some desktop GPU's are the same way, actually. Laptop versions are physically smaller though, and use less power, and it's really more common to find a separate GPU card in a desktop.

Also, that CPU will be as big of a problem as the GPU. Even if it's a dual core, a 1GHz processor isn't doing to do a whole lot.

Honestly, if you want to play games and watch movies, you're better off getting a new computer, or a half-decent used one.

Thank you Drenlin; So what would you recommend as a minimum performance processor and gpu so that i can try to find a laptop that will perform better?
