PLEASE HELP modem/router problem

okay my dell inspiron 2200 was working great. Then the wireless internet got really laggy. I eventually had to stop refresh multiple times before it worked again. I eventually went and unplugged my router and modem and it worked fine again. Then it went slower and slower and I eventually had the same problem. So I unplugged it and it worked fine again.(this was all in about 3 days.)I know its going to happen again soon though. Is there a way I can fix this because it's really driving me crazy.
 
could be a lot of things, check your router's dhcp and make sure it has enough IP assignments for all your devices. While you're at it, I'd check all your wireless options out to make sure they are secure and good for what you want out of the network. Also check to see if the computer automatically obtains IP's and DNS's and the like.

umm sorry for the stupid question, but how do I do this?
