ok well I got my mobo (because the other one died)
and I installed it and now I have so much problems with this computer its
not even funny,

problem one..
I cant factory restore it...
when I put the win xp cd in I click on install win xp then It restarts my computer
(like it should)
after the computer resets
it takes me to a screen saying
to install eather win xp home
or win xp setup (wich I guess gets win xp ready for a full xp home installation)
but it gives me like 4 seconds to choose and my keyboard doesnt function during that time
and windows xp setup is highlited so I cant install home
I click the up and down arrow keys and nothing...

same thing when I try to install win xp with out opening it up on the desktop
like..( i just put the cd in and manually restart my comp )
gives me like 10 seconds to choose it says (to boot from disk hit any key)
I hit everysingle key on the damn keyboard and nothing..
and no my batteries arent dead because when the comp starts,
like where it has the AMD screen I hit DEL and go into bios
or TAB and go to post screen..

ok problem 2
now that Ive installed the windows xp setup
theres a lil icon on my toolbar ..(bottom righ of screen)
that sais Safely Remove Hardware
and when I click on it, It opens something up that says
Maxtop 6B300S0
so im guessing thats my h.d.d
why does it want my to remove it,
when I click on stop, (as to stop it then remove it)
It tells me "The Device cannot be stopped right now, Try again later"

I really want to factory restory this piece o crap
any help is greatly appreciated..

thanks again..

Do you need anything on the drive? If not, when you're doing the setup, be sure and FORMAT the drive(to NTFS, not FAT32, if you have the option) That should clear up the boot menu and totally remove any other junk that's left over from your previous(bad?) Windows install

As for #2, sounds like you have your basic SATA drive showing up. I thought there was some update to fix that or something, but it's totally normal. Mine's showing up too, my previous computer did as well. I'm pretty sure SATA is hot-swapable, unlike IDE...

I would Love to exept it doesnt give me that option :(

and 2
im going to have to live with that (safely remove hardware junk)??
oh and If you know where I can find that update plz plz post it up

thanks alot

1) When you boot the system with the installation disk in the cd drive use a standard plugin type keyboard and press the F8 key if you have the option for the boot menu there. Of you enter the bios setup to assign cd rom as the first boot device. Your wireless keyboard will not work until Windows is operational with the MS software and drivers installed and loaded.

2) The safely remove hardware icon in the system tray is there to do one thing only. Remove hardware! Why are you trying to remove hardware? when you are trying to Windows to properly detect all hardwares? By right clicking on the task bat you can go to the task bar\customize option and set the safely remove hardware icon to the "always hide" option, exit and click apply to have that "out of sight, out of mind".

then why is it that the keyboard works when it tells me if I want to go into bios or post screen

accually I was not trying to remove any hardware It just showed up by it self and its oh so annoying lOl

and can you tell me one more time how to get rid of that..because when I right click it the only option that it has is to safely remove hardware

Trizoy im gonna need a lil more info..lol im still a noob here remember..
do I just d.l a bootdisk and put it on a floppy and format my drive and fdisk??
if I got that wrong plz tell me lol

ok after viewing this site (bootdisk.com)
i dont understand what I must do lol
I see here its not free etc..etc.

1) Why the standard keyboard? Your wireless functions until the XP installer is loaded where it then looks for input hardware hard wired not wireless. The "Y" or enter key is generally the one or two available to say yes to install at that time. From there the one or more drives and one or more partitions are listed where you highlight the one to install XP onto.

2) You don't right click on the icon itself. That is a Windows tool for removing hardware. The only time anyone uses that is when they need Windows to freshly detect an already installed hardware. When you right click on the Task Bar itself you will see a small screen come up with two sections. The first is for the Task Bar by default. Click on the "customize" button to enter a new screen with a vertical list of anything that was or is still seen in the system tray which is the icons on the lower right.

oh cool I got it..
ok now about the boot disk...

somethin came with my mobo..(2 floppies)
one says NVRADI Driver Disk
and the other one says NVRAID 64bit Driver Disk

can any of these be used to clean out the h.d?

oh P.S ive noticed that my web pages scroll down all..slow and choppy...
I know Ive had this problem before but I forgot how to get rid of it lol..
any ideas?

thanks..

The two floppies there are for installing SATA not ide drives. One is for the 32bit version of Windows like XP Home while the other is strictly for the 64bit version of XP Pro. You use one of those when prompted for a driver disk when installing Windows on a SATA instead of an ide type drive.

How full is your current hard drive? If you get low on space just before the warning is given by Windows you notice a slowdown. The drivers for connection may have to refreshed if it isn't due to a heavy amount of users online at certain periods of the day or night.

well its a 300 g.b hdd
and I have 35.5 g's left...so yea..

""The drivers for connection may have to refreshed if it isn't due to a heavy amount of users online at certain periods of the day or night.""

what is this suppose to mean exactly??

thanks..

The main reason your system is running ssssloowwww... even when online is the amount of hard drive space taken up where you now only have 35gb free on a 300gb drive. Here when reaching 185gb to 215gb of drive space taken up on a 250gb drive you will suddenly see everything suddenly bog down even trying to open a new page. This is one reason for tha second drive here having a storage partition on it.

Occasionally when you start seeing connection problems where the usual sites take forever to open or you keep getting page can not be found errors out of nowhere you have to remove the connection and drivers to have Windows perform a fresh detection of the hardware being used(dialup, dsl, cable, usb connection). The reinstall there then sees Windows setting the drivers active again. But even with a entirely fresh installation of Windows and all drivers you can see slowdowns when going to browse online. That is due to the amount of customers your ISP has logged on at that particular or how many are logged onto one specific site.

That shouldn't cause any problems if you keep your drive clean. Using tools like disk defragmenter and ccleaner. ;)

You have to consider what is needed for swap files as well as the percentage of the drive remaining there. The amount of things set to start up along with Windows can also cause slow downs at times as long as there are no errors found with IE itself.

Ok were getting off the subject lol im still trying to factory restore my drive I dont much care what is on it; All the games n such I can re-install-download

All I really Want Is for my H.d.d to be good as new and I dont want to have to buy a new 300 G.b one because there not as cheap as they use to be..
I got mine for about 80 bucks I dont think I can find a better deal sadly...unless I look around lol..

but yea...I still need some help on restoring this...
OH and about the slow-ness...ness
I fixed that with a norton antivirus run and an ad-aware run
and I cleaned out most of my drive I have about 100 free g's

but yea..

thanks....

My 2 cents worth. Your first problem? Your keyboard does not allow you to select? Is it a USB keyboard? If so try a PS2 board or see if a PS2 adapter will work. Some M.B.s I've noticed don't recognize the USB right away until the opertating system drivers load, Only PS2.

Your second problem. The little icon in the sys tray. Ignore it. I get the same thing. Its common as far as I'm concerned when you use an aftermarket M.B. like ASUS or Gigabyte. instead of a factory board like Dell or Compaq. Its not saying to remove it. All its saying is that if you want to remove it you can. Your OS sees an obscure component on your M.B. as far as your OS is concerned and it installed drivers for it. In case you didn't want that hardware installed its just giving you the option to remove it. Mine is something like a lan driver. You don't need to do anything.
