Hi to everyone in this forum, this is my first post, so here is my firts question. I just finished my second build computer and I have a problem with a second stick of RAM, I build it the first time and than when I boot it, it did not boot, I took everything apart and install it again and the same thing everything was working,Power supply, cpu fan, but only gave a constant beep, anyways I took one of the two 512 ddr 3200 ram out and it worked , and also the computer read the only one stick of ram at 1024, is this right? But after I set the bios and install windows I turn off the computer and place the other stick on it did'nt boot and gave me the constant beeps again, so I took the stick out and it is working now. Is this other stick of RAM no good? should I exchange it?
Oh, I have another question, with all this problems I forgot to format my new 200 GB hardrive, ( this is my first new hd, I've always had used ones), do I have to format it in order to work better?
Thanks. Here is my new built:
Gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939
3000 AMD 64 bit
1024 ram 3200
WD 200 GB
VC 9250 radeon
Aopen-dvd burner
pioneer 105 dvd burner(used as dvdrom)

Looks like you got a bad stick. If you can, you should return it and ask for a replacement.
A brand new hard drive might not be formatted. Even if it was formatted, it wouldn't hurt to format it again to be sure. It is always better to format a drive before installing your OS to make sure you start with a clean slate.

as far as formatting, if you install xp, it will make you format (and partition if you want to do that) whatever drive you are installing to anyways
