Please help quick with my monitors!

Hey!

I am trying to set up another monitor to my system and i cant get it to work properly. when i plug in the second monitor, it is installed ok, then i go to switck it on, it does, but not as an extra desktop but as the wallpaper for the primary monitor- with no icons or anything, just the background. im trying to get it that you see the identical output on both monitors,,,,for watching films, playing games ect.

you need to go into the advance settings for you video card. you want to set up the second monitor as a clone.
 
thanks, iv got an ati x800xt.............any ideas about how i would set it to colne? also, y in this mode, is there only a wallpaper for the secondary monitor?
 
iv now got the two desktops cloned but when i play videos, the vido is black in the other monitor!!! helP!!!
 
the reason why it is blank on one screen is that the graphics card is only capable of doing hardware video accelleration on one screen at a time.
i'm not too sure but im sure that my 6600 GT can perform accelleration on both outputs cos i vaguely remember seeing an option to enable this feature

*edit* you could try using a media player in software mode cos that wont require hardware accelleration
