I'm really all at sea re graphics cards..really am. PLEASE can someone advise.

I want a new graphics card ( my current one, aside from a dodgy sounding fan noise ) isnt up to the job of what i want. I want to edit HD video and just got a bluray burner.

My choice of geforce cards are...PNYNVIDIA GeForce GT 640 ( £89 ) or the
ASUSNVIDIA GTX550 TI PCI-E ( £95 )

All i want to know is, which is better? and can I simply slot in either card and hey presto it will work. I know that i need a new power supply unit..as mine only has about 240volts or something...so im prepared to spend £40 on a new power supply.

PLEASE advise...ive been looking at sites/various versions...but simple answer...will either slot into my computer.

Specs are:
PACKARD BELL IEXTREME M370
RAM 6 GB RAM
64 BIT
PROCESSOR CORES 4

NVIDIA GEFORCE GT 240

In editing hd videos, there are 3 parts of the pc that are hardly needed. Cpu, ram and gpu.
I would go for an hd6850, 6870 or 7770. All better for video editing.

Thank you for you speedy responce..but could you just enlighten me please...your saying Corel videostudio ( other brands available!! ) does not require..RAM/ CPU or graphics card to run?? What does it use? Aka..how can i make it the smoothest when editing my videos...doing dvd covers...and burning blurays ( which i havent tried yet ).

Looking around, and on this helpful forum..another graphics card jumped out at me...Sapphire 11180-00-20R HD6850 1GB GDDR5 ( £100 )..really is my maximum budget price..and apparently you need at least 500w!!!

What are the 7770 figures your reffering too?

thanks again for the reply.
