Please help with highjacked browser

My computer was seriously infected. I ran super antispyware, malwarebytes anti malware and a number of other scans. They found over 700 infections, including cookies and removed all of them.

The latest scan I ran with Malwarebytes came up clean. I have posted this log along with a highjack this log.

I originally had popups claiming my computer was infected, obviously part of the infection. It had also locked me out of all programs and internet access. After the round of scans and removals, I am able to get into all programs and the popups went away, but I am still unable to access the internet. My web browser says it cannot display the web page.

I have suspision that there may still be an infection that has highjacked my computer.

I am running Norton Internet Security.

Any help would be appreciated.

Using Internet Explorer I assume?

Go into internet options and click on the connections tab. Click on the lan settings box and uncheck the boxes under proxy server. You should have internet now.

Afterwards, open malwarebytes and update it to the latest database and rescan your system using a quick scan. The latest database is 4863.
 
Indeed I am using Internet Explorer.

I have unchecked both boxes in the proxy server section.

Internet is back.

I personally did not. Though this is a family computer and I have a little brother who loves to download anything in his path, so it is possible he did!

Things seem to be running smoother. I have internet access and the computer starts up a bit faster. Though Internet Explorer starts up very slow now. Maybe this will get better or maybe I am accessing it too soon after reboot. I will do some more tests to see how that goes.

Have we unfinished business?
 
The things that slow down the broswer loading are the following.

1. Need to delete the temporary internet files
2. Toolbars and add-ons

I see that you've got the google, norton and pctools toolbars. I would highly recommend to disable nortons and pctools toolbars and add-ons if possible.

Use Ccleaner to delete the temp files and use it once a week as a general cleaner.

You should also check your HDD activitity light to make sure the system is fully booted before running any programs. But most generally once you use Ccleaner and disable items you don't need, the browser loads a lot quicker.
 
Thanks for your advice and help. All things seem to be well now.

Explorer opens and runs fast, computer appears to be clean of infections, though the latest scan of spyware doctor found an instance of Spyware.Known_Bad_Sites. It claims it was able to fix the problem.

I am extremely happy with all things you have suggested. Take care.
