Please help

my computer cannot detect any cd at all, the computer can't autorun the programs it should autorun, and when i open my computer it doesn't shows up anything, the icon is no cd, but when i double click the icon, there is things in it! why does these happen? it is the same for my virtial cd rom is well. Please Help Me if you know what happened and how can i cure it. if i reboot my computer or disable then enable the cd-rom, the cd-rom show up the name of the cd but it don't show up the icon of the cd, and the cd and the cd-rom used to be all right.

P.S: I think this thread should be in cd/dvd sector so i have rewrite the thread again

i tried change the regedit way which is HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer
change the value of NoDriveTypeAutoRun to = 95

are you able to read all the data ok from any cd?

i know, well, I think it is in the wrong sector anyway.

by use something called SFnightmare. I just pressed disable CD, and than the CD-rom has been like deleted, after that I pressed Enable cd, and the CD-rom has appeared

yes I am mounting images, And using real CDs is well. I mount images with Deamon

Hmmm

I have come across this problem several times in Windows XP. I really do not know what causes it but it is random and in fact does not happen very often. In fact it has no effect on anything in that CD.

i don't think i said that "is the cd broke?" or anything like that, why is lots people always reminding me the cd isn't broken, the problem happens to all the cds.

I meant that it has no effect on the capability of the system to access all data on that drive. I will have a look on the net for your problem. Definitely do not DOWNGRADE! to Windows 98!
