I need a CD burning program *Not Nero* which will allow me to make Video CDs, which will work on DVD players. Anyone got any? *Preferably not free trials, would prefer freeware obviously.

Try Click 'N Burn CD & DVD 2.75: http://www.download.com/Click-N-Burn-CD-DVD/3000-2646_4-10578718.html?tag=lst-0-2 if that one won't work I can Probably find some more.
Also try looking at ww.download.com for shareware and freeware.

DVDShrink? does that allow video cd's, i can't remember.

No DVD Shrink won't do what he wants I don't think, DVD Shrink takes DVDs and converts them to somthing else, (like a VCD) but I don't think it will work for making VCDs not from DVDs. but give it a try.
