Pls HELP!!!!

Please help asap!

My dad mailed me his old laptop, it took three days to arrive in the mail. It was wrapped well and the box was in good condition.

However, it will NOT turn on!

When I plugged in the power adapter I saw one green light and one red light. The red light turned to green after a few seconds.

When I take the power adapter out of the laptop and try to turn it on, I just see a red light for a few seconds.

My dad said he mailed the laptop fully charged and powered off.

Early this morning the battery light was red and the power adapter light was green. Now they are both green again but it wont TURN ON!

What is WRONG? I have been without a computer at home for weeks and I am going insane!

well batteries will discharge after a certain amount of time.
so it would turn on when you had it plugged in? but wont turn on when you dont have it in?
have you just kept the power adapter plugged in? the red probably means its low on bat.
 
Yes, try turning it on while it's plugged in. Even when it's on, it'll still charge up. But what confused me was that you said the light eventually turned green, so it probably finished charging.
 
Try this..

Take the battery out of the laptop and old the power button in on the laptop for 10 seconds and then insert battery and attempt turning it on. What this does is basically clears the circuit power and refreshes it.. We have to do it at my work occasionally..
 
Mr.Suave and LaptopExtreme - the computer will not turn on at ALL. Right now I see two green lights. It's been plugged in for quite awhile.

Does it give off any beeps or do you hear any of the fans go on when you try to power on? So far we know that the battery is charging so the power supply should be working. It may be the motherboard.
