Hey there, im about to do my first custom Build with my Dad, and i was wondering if anyone knew if this is a good processor for: Web design (macromedia Dreamweaver MX 04) Multi-tasking , some Games but not anything Big(games) Email, internet,Music, videos etc.

Intel Celeron D 346 Processor EM64T & XD, 3.06 GHz Clock speed, Socket LGA775,FSB 533MHz, 256KB L2 cache,
dont want a AMD though.

Thanks for any help. :D

the celeron d 346 is an ok budget chip. What is you budget for the chip/overall cost?
and why not amd? the sempron range can be a better budget range

apj101 makes a good point....you could get a sempron with a much better fsb than a celeron d can offer, for cheaper.

also another thing to consider is that intel boards are very expensive in comparison to amd boards, you could get a sempron 64 and a socket 754 mobo for less than $150.....which would be faster than the celeron machine....also, i think that you would spend much much more on the celeron

now to answer your question: the celeron machine would be fast enough to do what you want to do, but i think that you will pay more and get less

lol anything else we can clear up? if you're doing multitasking Pentium 4 seems like a better budget chip than AMD as long as it has hyperthreading...
AMD is better for gaming though so i guess it depends on what you'll use it for more.

i'd use it more for multitasking, mmmmmmmmm thanks fade2green514 :D
gives me somthing more to think about.

so are you getting amd x2 3800? as a cpu? its known for good multitasking/ and gaming also,, about $300

compared to some pentium D's,,, $200 should be good enough though

Ya looked on the net and i have decided to go with the pentium D, an thanks for all ya help it helped me alot thanks. :D

LOL Na dude i just put that down (in the making) cause i was gonna get that one but now im gonna get the pentium D not the celeron D. :D
