plsssss help

This error can happen if you or someone else has been messing with the file: boot.ini.
To fix this:
1. Boot the computer to the WinXP CD.
2. When you see the "Welcome to Setup" press R.
<You should now see a dos prompt>
3. Now type: "chkdsk /p" (without the quotes) and hit Enter.
4. When this process is complete, type: "fixboot" and hit Enter.
5. Press "Y" and Enter at the prompt.
6. Now type "exit" and hit enter. (without quotes).

I hope this info helps.

Easier way would be to do a repair install of windows. Stick the disk in like said and instead of hitting R to go to recovery screen wait for it to show a list of partitions and select the one that has windows installed on it (usually c: or partition 0) and hit R (not enter). There will however be on screen prompts to show how to do it if you get confused. The option you will want to be looking for is "Repair (Repair-install) windows...(select blah)"
