plug and play error

i have vista:rolleyes: and i keep getting an error message come up that says "windows must now restart because the plug and play service terminated unexpectedly" and then the laptop shuts down and reboots. Also, I keep getting things opening in new tabs when on the internet (both on firefox and internet explorer) and sometimes when i click on google links it comes up with something completely different or same sort of thing that opens in the tabs.

I think the two are related - i have tried restoring the system but has not worked. It's a PITA - i had the same laptop before and it ran perfick, but this one is f!*king rubbish:mad:

help me please:)
