Hi
I currently have a packard bell imedia 2415 and I would like to upgrade the graphics to a 512mb geforce8800GT.
Can you tell me if this would work.
Thanks.

Actually it has a quad Q6600, 3GB RAM, and a nvidia 610i chipset I think.

Edit: here are the specs i could find MOBO
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Processor (2.40GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 8MB Cache)
Genuine Windows Vista (R) Home Premium
3GB Memory
500GB Hard Drive
Multi-Format Dual Layer DVD Re-Writer
256MB nVidia GeForce 7050MB Graphics
4 USB Connections 18-In-1 Card Reader

you can see why i want to upgrade the graphics

ahh i appoligise, this be your newer model of the packard bell imedia 2415 :P

yeah sticking a 8800gt would make that syetem much better,it would be similar to mine, however even though the 8800GT is fantastic i would reccomend getting a HD4850 instead, its not much more than a 8800gt and its better.

what i would do is find out what psu (power supply) you have, take off the cover of your pc and take a picture of what it says on the side of your psu so we can see what you have.

Im nearly sure its only 250W:eek:
Im willing to spend aroung £150. dont know what that is in dollars if any of you are from the USA.
I spoke to my friend and he said a new psu might blow the mother board and components??????? Is he right.
Anywhere i could get a psu and 8800gt for cheap/cheaper.

I think Ill stick to Nvidia. my computer has already got the nvidia sticker on it. lol. Joke. I know more about them and so do my friends so Itll be better for free guidance/technical help.:D:D

250W

i wouldnt try and run a Q6600 and a 8800GT on 250W its just not enough.

you would need to replace your psu if you got a new card.

I spoke to my friend and he said a new psu might blow the mother board and components??????? Is he right

no not true, well it could blow if you purcahsed a realy cheap 700W and take other components with it so if you do get a new psu ask in here with a budget and the guys with more knowledge on power supplies will help you out :)
