Plz help with Digitizer

Hi there!
I want to buy a Digitizer.Could anyone give me some information about

1. its features,
2. what pieces it consists of,
3. how it connects to the system case.​

And I also want to know can I use it to work with any type of program (Photoshop, Flash, Fireworks or other)? If no then on what dipends its working or not working?

digitiser = tablet, pen, maybe mouse. It is a pressure sensitive pad that allows you to draw on computer as you would on paper. It connects to an open USB port, and I don't know much else.
