My friends is having a pc prob. There are lines going down his screen and he doesnt know what to do . He thinks it because overheating but doesnt know how to check his temp. What do u think is the problem plz help.

his garphic card is redeon 9800
 
if it has a fan on it he can download rivatuner (search on google) and set the fan speed to about 70%...see if this corrects the problem....in ati tray tools that comes with the driver there is a tab called ati overdrive that will tell yout he temperature of the video card...with a 9800 i doubt its overheating unless the fan on it died which is bad if the fan is fine and the temperatures are normal then it might be that the card itself is dying or a problem with the monitor hopefully its just the fan that can be replaced for fairly cheap
