OK just went on Battlefield 2 (Project reality Mod). (Last played 2 days ago))
So first off my antivirus (kaspersky) prevents me running, however due to black screen I was unable to read the proactive defence message, and give the antivirus its orders, so I have to end BF2 and then of course the message is no longer able to read. I eventually get in to BF2, and while playing get kicked every 5 mins due to PnkBstrB.exe failing to initialise.
Now I have had that before, and have worked round it by just trying a different server that I know works and it works. But I then later get dropped to Desktop, asking me if I should block PnkBstr from having access to startup services. Which I in fury at the 5th intrusion allowed. Kaspersky message was not all that clear and have forgotten most of the info now, but I remember it pointing to ..../enum/LEGACY/PnkBuster... and /system32/services.exe
Well once I hit allow, my computer froze I even lost mouse input, (which is not good as it has one of the highest interrupts). I then force a restart manually, upon restart and fearing the worst, I am informed windows is trying to find drivers for a unknown device, I cancel and proceed to windows device manager and uninstall it, well all seems fine now, but what hell just happened? Sadly due to the manual restart the kaspersky logs are unreadable. What is going on with PnkBstr, and is this genuine.
Thanks
