Point to OC'ing my RAM.

this is abut OC'ing RAM and MOBO's so i wasn;t sure where to put it, but here seems good.
Ok i have a mobo that goes up to 333Mhz of ram, i have 400Mhzof DDR but it should run at 333MHz because thats all the mobo goes up to. If i OC'ed the RAM it wouldn;t actully do anything right? it would still just run at 333? correct?

the RAM is able to run at 200MHz(400) without problems. it is running at 166MHz(333) in your board. OCing the FSB (OCs RAM and CPU) would increase the RAMs speed from 166MHz to whatever you can get the FSB to run at

i figureed it owould be something like that. for my secendPC i basicly found another mobo, that i didn;t use because i didn;t have DDR memory then. and i think i'll just keep this one since my other PC will be better anyways.

Thanks for the info.I was conufssing myself thinking about it, but that makes sence.

Once you've set your front side bus to its maximum then try setting your memory timings. If your memory is CAS2 then try 2-3-2-6(or7) T1. If that works alright then try the best scenario of 2-2-2-5 (or 6). You'll have to play with them for the best settings. If your system locks up and refuses to boot then remove your boards battery for a half minute and then start over.

The "5" or "6" isnt always best -- regardless of what the manufacturer may market :) (Anandtech explains this in each of their benchmarks ... and Mushkin gives a good explaination too)

If your system locks up and refuses to boot then remove your boards battery for a half minute and then start over.
Also consider bumping the Vdimm :)
