but right now im lookin forward to the xps 600..the price is within my range..alienwares juss cost wayy to much and i heard building your own pc will cost a fraction of the price for alienwares..i was going to buy an alienware but people were tellin me its a rip off
 
uhh...there's already a poll like this one in the cpu section, and its been there for a long time, and its stickied...

if your computer is gonna be a gaming pc then i would go with AMD...way better for gaming, Intel is better for multitasking...

The Pentium 4 is better at multitasking than the Athlon 64 is, but right now the AMD X2 is better at gaming and multitasking than both the Pentium 4's and Pentium D's.
 
I have a very slow internet (dial up connection), i use my Pc mainly for School (i do school on the internet), internet navigation, and Movies (burning and playing them) So which, intel or AMD ???

first, please don't hijack someone else's thread, feel free to start your own
second, like what was said, you aren't doing anything difficult for the processor, so my advice would be to go to your local computer store and buy whatever they have on sale that's cheap, AMD or Intel, you're really not going to see much if any difference between the brands at low, similar prices. If you have to have an answer, I'd probably say Intel ONLY because ripping movies would probably go a little faster with one, nothing else should matter at all

Make that 19. It's funny, because in the other poll, people were saying that they wanted a new poll made because way more people would vote for Intel. Instead, AMD is beating Intel by a much larger margin...

You cannot get AMD with Dell, so if you decide to listen to us do not buy a Dell. Nor should you buy an alienware, but if you are incredibly scared of building your own system (which really is not that hard) it would be a better choice than Dell.

Go with what I have in my signature. I spent $1960 on that. Of course with all that I also got an optical drive, a floppy drive, and some free extras that newegg gave me.

Definitely build it yourself. I configured a similar system to mine on alienware and it comes out to be around $3300 after shipping. Of course with a computer that you build yourself you dont get the 1 year warranty and the snazzy alienware computer. Do yourself a favor and build it yourself. Then you can go out and buy a bunch of other cool stuff that would make your computer twice as good as an Alienware. :D

The warranty you would get with your computer is better because you get at least 1 year warranty on all of your hardware. Some get a lifetime warranty.
