Portable HDD

I was just wondering if I got a portable HDD, if i can partion the harddrive so it split it into two, one for mac operating system and one for windows. Thanks.
 
okay thanks, I just got one, and I bought a 300gb with a 7200rpm 16mb buffer, and a case for it I put it together, plug it in and windows does the beep thing when it finds a new thing pluged in then it doesn't do anything, in divice manager it shows it, but not in my computer...what should i do
