Possible Motherboard Problem

Hey it's been a while since I posted here but I've been having a problem with my desktop lately. When I boot up my system or come out of standby my computer sometimes won't startup again. The best way I can describe this is if I turn my monitor on my monitor stays in power saving mode. I can hear the hard drive spinning and fans going, but it will just sit their until I manually shut it down. Any ideas whats wrong? My gut feeling is somethings wrong with the mother board or maybe the PSU but I'm not sure. Sorry for my poor description of the problem, I've had a long week. Let me know if you need anymore information and thanks for helping!

I had something similar and can't really remember how I fixed it... I couldn't even switch it back on from sleep mode. It HAD to be switched off by the main power source... you can try reseting your BIOS by taking the battery out. After that, turn your PC on and fix the registry entries. To do that, use CCleaner which you can download and use for free. Reset your PC and then try again.

check your motherboard's bios version from the manufaturers website to see if any new bios are availble for download - some manufacturers websites would tell you what bug fixes have been made since the updates (may say something about your problem) - I hope this helps
