Possible new thread

Hey guys, I'm starting to get a new computer itch. I've built a few now and I was going to upgrade my gpu but I'm now considering a new cpu. My budget would be under 1000.00 U.S maybe a little more due to the GPU. I'll buy anywhere from NE, Tiger, Micro Center, Amazon, etc. Basicly any legit company. I will use it for internet surfing, email, word and excel. Oh and play some games like LFD2, World Of Tanks and probably be getting BF3. I was thinking of the following;

Case: Undecided would like a quiet yet high air flow (Antec 300)

Mobo: I'm a brand name guy so Asus/Gigabyte/??? (P867 LE)

CPU: Was thinking i5 2500 or K for r/s purposes I'll never O.C. Im an intel fan so I don't think I'd like the AMD CPU....

GPU: Thinking of 6950/6970 or 560/570

Ram 8GB 1333 or 1600 (G Skill 1333)

PSU: Modular 600-800 watt Don't plan on CF or SLI

HD: 1-2 T.B. Fast maybe a Seagate or WD Black

Cooler: Do I need something other than stock if I don't O.C. or would a $30-50 aftermarket cooler be much better if I don't O.C.

O.S.: Win. 7 Professional 64bit

Drive: DVD

I have Keyboard, mouse, monitor an speakers.

Thanks for suggestions.......

For the case, antec has been bad the last couple of years. Look into coolermaster and corsair. Great cases with cable management so you can route all the cable behind the side panel, and they have great airflow.

Go with gigabyte over ASUS. ASUS motherboards have the reputation of being DOA.

Don't look past AMD. Sure, they won't perform as well as the i5s and such, but for basic use like gaming and internet, the 955 are great CPUs. Plus the new chips that are coming out are supposedly gonna be good.

A 6950 or 560 are great choices. Some go AMD, others go Nvidia. Depends on what you need.

Get 1600 mhz RAm.

A nice 650w corsair, antec, silverstone, seasonic, PC power and cooling, or XFX power supply would fit your system.

I like the WD black drives. Look into an SSD for fast boot and loading times for your OS and most used programs.

You wouldn't need a aftermarket cooler if you're not overclocking, but I always like them better than stock coolers.

Hope that helps.

idk what cases you'l like so these are some good ones, and i think some of them should have windows combos

may want to look at the full tower and super tower cooler master hafs, will look better but cost a little more, but do have rebates.

and this may not be a modular psu, but those are cost way more, i think the cheapest 650 modular from a good brand was like twice the price (+ this has a 10 off code btw)

and since you aren't overclocking or anything you don't need any of the fans or anything.

Thanks for the responses. I don't know why I put possible new thread, don't know what I was thinking???? Suppose to read possible new build haha. As for Cases I have used both the Antec 900 and CM Storm Scout. I was looking for something different. I've had Asus mobo's in my last 2 builds, they're working great. I wasn't aware they were having issues, I have to look into that, nice to know. I like Intel CPU's, I've never used AMD. As too GPU, I use to use nothing but Nvidia but the past 5 years I've had AMD. I'm trying to go on a budget but on the same time I really can't with the specs. I want. Basicly because of the GPU. I'm going to search around and see what I come up with. Any other suggestion please post.
