Possible router/ connection problem

hi their

ive just been downloading some update files and it said i was downloading at 30KB/s.
i went on to my router and it say my download connection is 3552kbps
im sure my connection is about 3 meg but with all the different letters (kb kbps mbps) im just a little confused is this normal am i getting the right download speed???

OK, The server where the updates are might be busy or slow, that is why it is running at 30kb/s, sometimes it does depend on your connection. But with your internet speed it should be faster then 30kb/s.
 
30 KBps is about 240kbps, which is far under your 3mbps connection. However your download speed is equally determined by the server you're downloading from and your internet connection.
 
ive rechecked my info

on the router im running

3553 kbps downstream connection
445 kbps upstream connection

when i go on a speed checker im getting


when i tried to download some things info
i patched my age of conan game
download a torrent ( with lots of seeds and peers)
updated my anti virus
updated stuff using windows updater

all where giving the same result of about 30kbps
 
I had a friend with internet connection speed issues like you are describing. When i finally convinced him to go out and buy a new router/modem the problem was fixed. I'm not saying this is the problem but looking at the speed you are getting atm it is most likely.
