POST failure

okay. I worked on my cable management a little more (should have just left it alone), and now I am not getting anything.

Steps already taken:
1. Reversed everything I did. Nothing.
2. Cleared CMOS (via jumper) nothing.
3. Checked all power cables (this makes 2x counting step 1.) nothing.
4. Disassembled and reassembled on the wooden desk. Nothing.
5. Reseated RAM (twice counting step 1.) nothing.
6. Tried RAM one stick at a time. Nothing.
4. Multimeter tested the outlet. (be sure it is getting power). Getting 110V on the plug and the power cable to PSU. Can't get the PSU to power at all to get a reading on any of the 3.3, 5 or 12V lines on the multimeter.
5. Tried reasembling it again. Nothing.
6. looked over the PSU for signs of damage. Did not see any. Did not hear any pops, bangs, squealing or other out of order sounds. Did not smell any smoke that I did not expect (non computer smoke).
7. gave up and came here.

Okay, I am thinking my PSU is dead, but I can not say for sure. All I can say for sure is that 110 V is coming into the power cord and getting to the supply, but no volts is coming out the other side.

Any ideas?

Try resetting the CMOS by removing the battery and unplugging the power cable. Tap the power button a few times, and let it sit for a few minutes. Then see if it'll post.

If that doesn't do it, pull everything out of the case and try running it caseless (short out the pins for the power switch to turn it on).

If still no success, try a different PSU.

CMOS battery is out. I will test in a few minutes to be sure.

Already assembled outside the case. nothing happened.

I don't have another PSU to try. Just a 250 watt from my old HP, and it only has 20 pin main and 4pin CPU. I dont think it would power this 24/8 board.

no post still. Shorted the power + and - and nothing, and used the onboard mobo power switch.

CMOS cleared via the battery. No avail.

the HP is just parts at this point. I have a HDD a CPU and a stick of DDR, and the PSU. The motherboard I do not have still. Sorry.

This would be a very good time to have one of those PSU tester tools. The one tool I don't have. :(

tried the PSU from the HP and the fans (PSU and CPU) started, but shut off pretty quick. They do it continuously, so its not busted. I think that might be a failure on the 24/8 using 20/4, but it is a good sign.

Is it easy enough to call bad PSU on this?

did you flip the psu to the other voltage thing? i know my emachine's psu had a small switch to change the voltage or something on it.

Its an auto switching PSU. No selector. And I am 99% sure that the psu is gone. The only thing I am getting from it is a high pitch wineing sound. No power at all.

RMA was approved by Newegg. All I have to do is pay shipping and take it to the UPS store. That is going to take a while.

okay, sorted some more (I hate waiting for payday, and in this case its good). The PSU will start, with 11.8v/5v/3.2v on the proper cables when jumped with a paper clip. All fans will power off the PSU, and the HDD will spin up. So it is either the Motherboard, RAM, or CPU. Can pull CPU as they never go bad practically. RAM I will take to CTE class and test. But I think its the motherboard as everything else checks out.
