id say you should probably get a new power supply as well, the ones that come with cases arent known for being the greatest, take a look at PSU 101 and it should help you know what to look for in a power supply
 
speaking of amd... i've read so much about amd vs intel that it's done my head in. is it neither here nor there (ie they're pretty much on the same par) or is there a significant difference?
 
performancewise, amd and intel are about the same. benchmarks shows that amd's are a tad bit better but nothing noticeable. i just go with amd because it's always cheaper :)
 
yeah that's why i picked the amd... cos it was cheaper. I'm a med student so i'm mainly using my computer for ms word, graphics (just anatomy pics + photos) and music.
I'm also settin up a computer for my mum... she uses it for digital camera stuff a lot and her budget is ~ AUS$2000. she wants intel but doesn't know why! anwway this is my first run-thru with the specs:

Alot of the parts, (CPU, RAM, HDD wouldn't have a place to plug into after the 2 ROMS are installed, video card) they don't match the mobo you are trying to use. I would suggest a different mobo for those parts, maybe something like: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813157034 just for example. And prolly a better PSU, read PSU 101 for that.

Is this something a computer store said they would build you? :confused:

not compatible. AMD doesnt support DDR2 yet

try to avoid budget brands for optical drives like lg (especially sicne the price delta to get a good drive is <$5)... for some ideas see CD/DVD 101

dunno if you plan on gaming with thjs but it wont be fun

also, whats the PSU in there? for some ides and what to look for see PSU 101.
