Power/Battery Problem with laptop

Hello, I seem to have a serious problem with my laptop (Acer TravelMate 2410)

My laptop:
Refuses to charge properly when on AC power
Works fine on AC power alone
Gives false readings on the battery status (goes 100%, 99%, 7% in the space of 10 minutes)
Battery life extremely low even after an overnight charge with the laptop off

I'm kind of worried now because I think it may be the socket and pin and I don't want to have major repairs on my hands, I need my laptop constantly, even though it is still under warranty. After speaking to Acer, they said it could be the battery and are replacing it under the warranty.

If it is the socket and pin, how can I get this repaired?

Did you leave the battery in the computer all the time, while ac power is on, and it was already charged. If you did this often then it messed up your battery. If ac is working while the battery is not in then it seems to definately be a battery problem.

not sure how you could repair your socket and pin, but if anyone does know please reply cuz I think this may be a problem the my laptop is developing.

It is most likely the battery. Not all of them last forever. My friend had the same problem, it just died after a while. If you're still under the warranty, send it in to Acer and let them work on it, and replace the battery. That's probably the problem.
