Hi,

My Hp Pavilion computer power on button is here shown on example picture in red...

When the machines on the botton lights up blue but mine has started to slightly flicker as if theres not enough power.

It doesnt go off at all...It just occasionaly flickers slightly.

Could this be sighns that the bulb in the botton is on its way out or is this a power problem?

My systems been fine.
No shutdowns no nothing.

Any ideas what it could be?

Thanks

Maybe it means it's receiving input from the evil HP machine headquarters. One day soon it will turn into a robot and run rampant around your house, destroying things at random.

:P

It could very well be that the light is failing. Is it one light or several? Because if it's several the chances of them all doing the same thing at the same time are almost non-existant. In that case they might be telling you that you have something funky going on with your PSU.

Hi SirKenin,

:D

No its only that one power on button light, The rest of the lights are just fine.

Can its bulb be replaced easily or are they soldred in or something? (Hope thats how ya spell it:D )

How long have you had the computer? SirKenin is probably right in that it is just the LED going. It happened to the entire front of my old XBlade case (see top banner here for what the xblade looks like)

edit for AMD// I know that DELLs won't let you do much, but I'm not sure about HP - I would assume no as they may very well say "you violated your warranty by doing this" to you.

Or you have a dodgy connection on the back of it, check all the wires for loose-ness and of course corrosion (not likely but hey), also you might want to make sure no one spilt a drink on it or anything.

Yeah, a loose connection is a real good possibility. Good point. UNLESS it's that ring around the power button, in which case I can't see how it would come loose (unless it's not a good design, but even then..).

If that fails, I'm not sure how hard it would be to put a new one in there. The only problem is that as soon as you break that stupid seal on the case your warranty is gone. I would say it wouldn't be worth it for an LED.

Its just over 2 years old,And the warranty finished anyway.

Even if i did still have warranty it wouldnt be no good because ive upgraded ram,New vid card and Psu:D

So thats definatly violated my warranty :D

So open up the case and take the front panel off. What it probably is is a small led soldered onto two leads and hot glued into place. Just cut it off, solder a new one on and hot glue it back where it belongs.
