Power Fan Problem

I just hooked up a 80mm fan to the power fan socket on my MB. When i look at my fan monitor (Asusprob) it says: Power fan below threshold. The settings minimum is 600rpm so why isnt it detecting the fan?

1) does the fan support speed sensing (ie does it have a yellow wire) ?
2) does the fan slot support speed sensing?

yes, it has a yellow wire and im sure it supports speed sensing.

is the fan actually spinning at less than 600RPM?

I assume by 'ya it is' you mean it's faster than 600. I know my ASUS board likes to say the power fan has stopped when it hasn't, are you using the release BIOS or an updated one?

I meant ya as in...the fan spins but it says its at 0. I am using the BIOS that came with the motherboard i havent updated it at all.

What does the BIOS read the speed as?

the bios only recognizes the cpu fan and chassis fan...not the power fan.

Try a BIOS update, or just turn off the monitoring of that fan
