Power options don't work

I spent 10 hours trouble shooting my power options. I could not get my monitor to turn back on after it went to sleep. After I put Video drivers in is when it happened. I even bought a $200 Video card to see if that would make a difference and it didn't. I called MSI tech support up 5 times on my motherboard and that didn't work. I was using a DMI or HDMI cable. I switch over to DVI and now my power options worked. Does anyone know anything about this?

I believe he's talking about this. http://www.7tutorials.com/how-tweak-advanced-settings-power-plan-windows-7

This problem could be due to a driver problem with the ACPI.

But try this. Go to device manager and expand mice and pointing devices. Right click USB mouse and click properties. Click the power management tab. Disable allow this device to wake the computer.

Are there applications like a browser still open when the computer sleeps? These can cause memory leaks.

Also, check this out. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/11021-63-windows-64bit-resume-suspend-sleep

My question was why a HDMI cable screwed up my power options? Before putting in my video drivers it would take 5 or 6 seconds to turn the monitor back on and after any video drivers it would not work period.
I change to DVI cable and the power options worked and it took about 1 second to turn the monitor back on. All this was many hours for my time so I wonder why?

HDMI may simply be a pass-through from the motherboard/CPU. Update your mobo and chipset drivers and try again.

I updated the BIOS to the latest one but didn't do any good. The DVI works fine so as long as it works that will be the cable I'll use. Also I did try again and again and again so I think I'll stop trying and be give thanks that the DVI cable works.
