Power Supplies?

Okay, so when I built my system I kinda cheaped out on some of the parts and one of them was a rosewill 650 watt power supply. Which, Doesn't properly power my gtx260oc and all my other stuff. To properly play games at those big resolutions and higher settings I had to unhook my cd-rom and pull out my raid array and such..

I'm thinking about getting this corsair 1000 watt thing,

Anyone have any other suggestions for a similar power supply? or?

My thermaltake case doesn't really 'support' this long power supply, I mean, It will, I just can't use that little cross bar that helps hold the standard power supplies in the case, what was thermaltake thinking? all power supplies are going to be 5 inches long?

I have a raid array with a Dell/cerc card and six 500gb drives.

Also have two optical drives and a TON of usb devices. I easily filled up all 10 usb ports on this motherboard and wound up using an extra 4 port usb hub.. heh..

Yeah, It is looking like Roadkill.... 750watts would be enough for all that you think?

That pc power and cooling looks nice. all the LED's in my machine are blue, so the orange/yellow of the corsair power supplies are kind of a turn off. I read a lot of good things about both corsair and pcpower&cooling tho..

Yah, It is easy to be wicked without knowing it :-( hindsight is 20/20

Hey, I dont know why people hate on rosewill power supply's. I have been using rosewill since my first pc build and never had a problem with them. Iam currently using a Rosewill 950watt, and am Running two Evga gtx 280's. With no problem whats so ever. You just probably got a bad one, that happens. When I ordered my Evga x58 motherboard for my core i7 I got a doa one to, so I had to send it back.

Could jump it up to a 850 for a few more bucks.

189 bucks but a nice Power Supply. 910W with a 74/82 amp rail. Say you would have no problem at all with this one.

Do you know who makes Rosewill? Plus do you know who makes EVGA motherboards, its not EVGA.

Rosewill power supplies are (mainly) crap. The only decent one i have ever come across was a lower end 400W unit that has powered an 8800gt and dual core system just fine. But most of them are utterly crap. Seasonic, Corsair, Pcpower&Cooling, BFG, FSP, Antec, OCZ,Silverstone, Thermaltake, Tagan, Zalman, Xclio and a few others are the only power supplies i would purchase, as they are quality power supplies.

have a modular 550watt antec in the machine I built for my wife. This quad is my first attempt ever at building a performance type gaming machine. I usually just buy whatever combos and throw it together and not think twice about it. I even did that back when I was doing in home and in business computer repair.. building a few machines a week for customers. just buy some parts, throw it together, give it to the customer.

I see you said bfg, I have a bfg video card, think there is any benefit to getting near all same components for stuff?

yeah, I seem to be really stuck on getting a 1000 watt, to future proof anything I may wanna put in this case, seeing as it has enough slots for 6 harddrives in it, + my 4 drive hot swap bay, so I can stick 3 more drives in it, .. Thinking back I shoulda got a mobo that can support sli... heh. building a computer for performance/games is a lot of thinking!

1000W isnt futureproofing, 1000W i would only go with if you get it on sale(only reason i went 1kw was cuz it was almost $100 off at the time). Unless you plan on going tri sli with three GTX285's, then an 850W would be fine. BFG makes good psu's but i would lean towards a pc power & cooling, seasonic, antec, or corsair for an 850W or 1kw unit.
