For several months now I've been having a problem with my Dell 8300.
I'm connected to my wireless router via ethernet cable. Occasionally when I start up the computer I'll get the "network cable is unplugged" notice.
If I go to the back of the computer and plug/unplug the cable a few times eventually the little light will come on and it will grab a connection. Sometimes the computer starts up and everything is fine, sometimes it takes 20 plug ins.
I'm not sure what it could be beside the port going bad, or maybe I'm using too much power between my vid card, sound card (audigy z), and other stuff. Would that be possible? I've been expecting power supply issues ever since I put in the 7600gt last year in an attempt to get another year or so out of this PC. I only have a 250w stock power supply.
I'm planning on building or buying something new in a few months, but I'd still like to keep this system up and running.
It's given me this disconnect issue with different cables, and with different routers. Once I do the plug/unplug thing a few times, and it grabs a connection, it won't drop it until the computer is restarted.
Also every time I have to restart due to a windows update it will drop the connection until the unplug/plug thing works.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
