power supply help

I'll be running AMD 3800+ X2 Processor
Dual Channel 2x512 Corsair Value Select
250 GB Hitachi SATA II HDD
eVGA 6800GS nVIDIA gfx

that's the system i'm using. i'm convinced that the provided 400w power supply will not be sufficient, i need a decently priced power supply nothing over 70 hopefully... btw if a power supply does fail, would it damage any of the hardware or would the computer simply stop performing until it is replaced.
 
Theres an Aspire 520Watt one thats really nice, its the top rated one on www.newegg.com

And it could probably go either way, if your lucky it might just blow a fuse or something in the psu, but then again it could send too much electricty to the motherboard and fry everything. I would not use that 400W power supply, especially if its only a 20-pin.
