power supply question.

ok i have a question,i am seeing these retail desktop machine that have quad cores with mid range graphics, with 4+gig of ram with 500+ gigs of hdd and 2 cd/dvd disk drives,and it only has lik 350watt power supply(some with 300:rolleyes:)?im still learning about computers and know a few things, but since im going to build a new one i want to know which one i should get.

Does it run effeciantly with so little power supply?

how will it affect the proformance?
 
They make it so there is exactly enough power supply to treat all the parts they install in the factory, so there is absolutely no room to upgrade...unless of course you wanna downgrade, but who would want to do that??:confused:
