power won't stay on

just got done with my first build. i put everything in place as the asus manual suggested, but when push the power button it only powers for one second then turns off. the green light on the mobo is still on. can anyone tell me what i may be doing wrong. any help is appreciated, thanks.
 
more than likely your connection from the front of your case to your motherboard is incorrect, or not in place at all, the asus manual will say where each one goes, double check the connections and let us know
 
make sure u have switched on ur psu. The exact same thing happened to me when it would turn on for a few seconds and the light on the mobo stayed on 2. I forgot to switch on my psu, try that.
 
i double checked the connection to the front of the case and its okay. how do you turn of the power supply? is it the switch on the back? if so i've tried with and without
 
Well the surge protector is useful and important but lack of one doesnt keep a computer from powering up :)


Do check that the ATX12 is connected though :)
