Hi i have a xbox 360 which i got in december 08.
we had a power cut today (with our electricity)
and when everything went off, my xbox was still on! with 3 flashing red lights but now the lights are green .

should i get it checked out or was it like a tweak or something? because i dont wanna turn it back on one day and its broke
i have had my xbox for 7 months now.

p.s. my friend has had his for like 2 years now and his has never had the red ring of death.

cheers.

In that case, the RRoD error is related to the XBox not receiving enough power. When the power was cut, there was still some power left in the power supply, and you saw the RRoD as that was drained out. You would probably see the same thing if you unplugged the box while it was still running (not recommended).

Anyway, it's nothing to worry about.

Ok thanks but if anything does occur suspiciously i might have to get it repaired or checked.

If it continues you can send it in to MS and have it repaired for free, since your warranty will be good until Dec 2011. :)

RROD is caused by power OR hardware failure, and you saw the first because it lost power. If you want to see this in action, plug the power cable into the console antil it is all the way in then pull it out a tiny amount. It will power and be safe but mid game it will stop and RROD because it doesn't get power. RROD is usually related to hardware stuff gone wrong, that is why it is seen as serious, but because of what you said about the power cut, it is obviously because of the power issue, not the hardware and it is now safe
