Powering additional fans

I want to add additional computer fans but i want to run them off of thier own power source. I was thinking about taking a power supply out of an old computer to supply power to the fans. But how would i be able to turn the fans on without the power supply being connected to a motherboard for the on and off switch. Is there a way to rig up a switch to the power supply to turn the fans on and off.
 
I can't remember what pins they are, but I know you can short two at the end of the 20Pin Lead on the PSU which will allow you to run it without being plugged into the computer.
