is there a big difference between 8+2 and 12+2 powerphase design on motherboards. for instance the evga p55 SLI and the p55 FTW editions.

is the overclocking difference going to be OMG or very minimal. i am overclocking an intel core i5.

would it be worth the extra 30$ for the FTW version just for overclocking. probably just going to stick to a decent aftermarket air cooler btw.

Yes there is.

However, at that price point, it is dumb to go with a P55 motherboard as you can pick up a 1366 motherboard for cheaper, i7 920's can be had for $199 at microcenter. Especially if you plan on running sli/crossfire or anything pcie other than a gpu, as P55 is limited to 16 lanes only(and it is a cpu limitation).
