Powersupply problems

My computer has been randomly freezing, getting the Blue Screen of Death, turning off for no reason (I am certain it's not over heating), and only turning on for a few seconds at a time. I am actually very lucky it's been on long enough for me to type this (But I can always use my moms computer too).

I am assuming it's just not enough wattage, and not a faulty power supply.

I recently installed 2 more gigs of RAM and an 8800GT (had an 8600) and I thought my power supply was enough, but now i'm thinkin otherwise. I have a 500 watt. And I did read a lot before I posted this!

My school year starts in 11 days (i'm only a sophomore), and once it starts I won't have time to really fix it and I really need a computer for homework purposes.

My specs are:

Core 2 Duo E4400 @ 2.7 (i really had no idea how to overclock, so i just guessed and checked stuff till somthin worked)

8800GT 512

Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI MOBO

4 GIGs of ddr2 667 (works great for me!)

250 GB HDD 7200RPM

Rosewill 500 watt

Antec 900 case, with 1 aditional fan

generic DVD burner

Maybe the upgrade requires more power than I thought??

Help please

Firstly, try removing the overclock on your processor and resetting to stock settings. Even if it boots into Windows, it's not necessarily completely stable and can cause these sorts of problems. At the very least you'll eliminate a potential culprit.

I have tried the recommended (doesn't even turn on long enough sometimes to get into the bios), but still won't work right (won't even turn on today, i'm using another computer). Should I just buy a new power supply and go with a 600 or 650 watt??

Or is it an entirely differen't problem?

At first my mom had told me tough luck and that I needed to start saving my money for another power supply, but now she said she would just buy one if I needed it that badly. So if I should buy a new power supply, nows the time to tell me!
