PPPoE or PPTP?

I have a laptop that is trying to connect PPPoE on wireless but I'm using COX as a ISP and I'm not sure if they even support it. I read that I need to get rid of PPPoE on the laptop but don't know how. When it try’s and connect I see dial up so I'm confused about this. Can anyone help me understand this?

Are you trying to connect through a wireless switch/router (i.e. linksys, netgear, dlink, buffalo, etc. device that sits between the modem and your computer)?

I have COX cable so DHCP would be the right way. My D-Link 655 wireless router is set for DHCP. I have a choice between PPPoE or DHCP so I pick DHCP. My wireless laptop is trying to connect to the Internet using PPPoE and won't connect. It will connect using Ethernet. How can I get my laptop on the Internet because it shouldn't be using PPPoE for wirerless?

Your laptop shouldn't be trying to dial a connection since thats the job of your modem/router. If this laptop running vista perhaps? And you are trying to connect wirelessly correct?
