Hey,
Bit inexperienced and hoping someone could help out.
I'm about to purchase an external HDD as an emergency back up due to some past failures. Essentially, I'm going to copy all the contents of my main HDD onto it and it will probably sit in a cool cupboard most of the time and rarely get used (maybe new stuff will get put on it one a month or so).
Would this impact its likelihood of lasting a long time, given that it wouldn't be used as frequently? I will be leaving it in a house I don't spend a lot of time in so I don't have the option of just quickly running it every few days unfortunately.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
