Hi.
Something I havent seen before. Problem is with most (but not all) program shortcuts in Windows XP Home. When I double click on a shortcut, I get error message "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel." But the funny part is, when I right-click on the same shortcut and choose Run as... and untick "Protect my computer and data from unauthorized program activity" then I can run this program. Also it is impossible to open any links under Control Panel etc. and I cant install AVG antivirus, because I get another error message:" Windows cannot open this file:........, What do you want to do. And then there are 2 options, webservice or select the program from list."
When I tried to re-associate some programs, I couldnt find appropriate program for Windows Backup Utility (ddnt try with other things).
So can it be a virus, that has deleted some windows components? And if Yes, is there a solutions to restore there Windows components? Windows restore point doesn't help BTW
Cheers,
Kirret
