price drops in cards?

i just got into looking for a new video card, and noticed within the few months i was looking the prices dropped dramatically on the top performing cards because new and better ones kept coming out.

i was wondering if this is going to be the trend over the next few months, because i'm trying to figure out if it's smart to buy now or wait a few months in case a significant price drop is going to happen anytime soon.

sort of a random question, but would appreciate an answer anyway. thanks.
 
This is going to happen as long as there are new cards in production. Whenever something new comes out, the previous generation lowers in price dramatically.
 
I would sugguest wait until NVDIA 8600GT release (March??) Then, we could consider buying it or price drop on NVDIA 7 series
