Prime95 tests failing

I have just upgraded my computer with an ECS KV2 Extreme motherboard and Athlon 64 3500+ CPU.

It is not overclocked, I have 3 case fans and a 400w PSU. Temps seem OK (SpeedFan reports no temp higher than 40c even with Prime95 running).

However, some apps such as Firefox crash intermittently and games crash randomly too.

I run Prime95 and ran the test to stress the RAM and it fails pretty quickly (sometimes in less than 1min). However, the test that stresses the CPU but not RAM seems to run fine (it's been going for 35 minutes and hasn't failed).

Is this conclusive that the RAM is bad? I haven't run memtest yet but I will do so soon.

Well, you baisicly answered it yourself, everything is indicating to RAM for now, maybe PSU, less likely, how many ampers on 12V rail/s? But I seriously doubt it's PSU, dunno why I even asked, lol

Do that memtest, post back.

What kind of RAM is it? What brand? I'm wondering if on the off chance it's the motherboard as well. The only reason I'm suggesting this is that ECS is not exactly known for making quality anything, and AMD is notorious for needing quality components to function well.
