Print From Laptop?

I have a laptop and a desktop (which is hooked up to a Dell All in One). I want to type documents on my laptop and have them print wirelessly to the printer. I've seen this done before, How would I go about doing it?

I'm sure it would require a wireless router but would need more specific directions to get it running
 
have your printer hooked up to your dell desktop via usb, then you will need a wireless router, a wireless card for your laptop (most new laptops have one built in). Once you have that, hook up your desktop and modem to the wireless router via an ethernet cord, then set up DHCP on your router (it should tell you how to do it in the manual). Once that is done, both your laptop and desktop should be able to get online, if so, then go on your desktop PC and go to the printer setup page (in control panel), and right click and select "share". Then go on your laptop, and the printer should automatically be detected, and your ready to go! This is assuming that both comps are running windows xp.
 
Will this make both Wireless? Will having them wireless lower the speed on the Internet? One is Running XP pro, the other XP Home is that a problem?

If you wanted them to be, but its better if the desktop is wired to the router, and the laptop is wireless.

No, wireless shouldnt effect the internet speed unless your far away where the signal isnt that strong.

And Xp home and XP pro will work fine together.
 
run the network wizrd on your desktop and turn on file and printer sharing when it asks you

then on your laptop go to "add a printer" and find it on your network
 
You may not even need to do that, once you get the hardware installed, you should be able to just plug it in and go.
 
I'm having trouble setting up the printer, the network is set up and I have an internet connection on my laptop. I tryed to share the printer in the control panel of my desktop but it didn't show up on the laptop, Any Ideas?
