Printable DVD's

It's called lightscribe and you need to use special discs. I believe it uses lasers to alter the coating on the disc.

Yes

you need a special drive and they are pretty cheap now and you can use most burning software with the image burn built in like nero.

If u use it, lightscribe is cool. But i thought i would...but i don't...so its pretty retarted. Yea basically u need to buy special lightscribe disks which u pop in to burn ur data, then flip it, to get ur picture. its cool n all i guess. it has 'silkscreen quality imaging'u need a special drive though...

Yes, lightscribe requires a special optical drive, printable CD's and DVD's require a special printer. The biggest detraction to LS is that it takes quite a while to print the image (15 - 30 minutes depending on the image and drive) to print. However the quality is quite nice. The price for LS is slightly lower than printable CD's and DVD's, I believe, but that's negligable.

Lightscribe is not in color.Printed dvd's would be in color..So if I wanted to put a picture on my home video dvd's I can.

This is true, however HP has been saying that they will have color lightscribe out "soon." However, they've been working on that for a little over 2 years now, so who knows when or even if that's still true...

like suggested above. it could take longer than a half hour to print.
shades of gray only. (but the quality is nice). to time consuming.
