Printer buttons panel freezes

My HP 2180 printer buttons panel freezes. Trying to press buttons won't help, sometimes when I try turning on the printer just a single ink catridge light will light up and won't do anything else. Sometimes it starts normally but when I try pressing one of the buttons it does nothing. I even managed to get the printing going in one case and it hung up in the middle. Definitely something wrong with the board or programming. Something I can try to fix it up before throwing it away?

Anything like this usually means the printer is shot. Try unplugging the printer for 10 minutes and then plug it back in and see if acts the same way. If so, then its broke.

If that doesn't work, do a partial reset (I think it's called an NVP reset). At any rate, unplug the printer. Then press the # key and 3 key at the same time. Hold these keys down while you plug the printer in and keep holding them until the printer starts (the backlight will come on). If you look at the panel, it will say something like NVP part reset.

If that doesn't work, try the same procedure with the # and 6 keys. This will take your printer back to factory settings.

Hi I am new so how do you post a question in this printer forum? I want to post the following "the code is 105-100003 I assume this is a printer head issue but maybe not? I bought a new black toner and after that still acts like it will print but prints nothing. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thank you!"

Need a little more info. Where did this code come from - the printer control panel display or the computer? How does it act like it's going to print?
